You qualify for Medicaid if you:
- Are a U.S. Citizen or a qualifying alien (pregnant women and people with an emergency medical condition do not have to prove immigration status)
- Are a resident of the state that you applied for Medicaid
- Have a qualifying income and resource level
For example, in New York State, to be eligible for Medicaid, your income cann’t exceed over $8, 462 per year and your total resource (cash, auto, jewelry, etc.) can not exceed over $13,800. These numbers applied to New York Medicaid Program. Other States will have different qualifying income and resource level.
Please note, since Medicaid is adminstered by State, each States set their own qualifying income and resource level to be eligible for Medicaid.
